Autograph Forger Sentenced to 36 Months
Stephen Lyons, a solo forger operating out of Rhode Island who sold on eBay, was convicted in Federal court in San Diego of forging sports and entertainment autographs. Lyons' auctions drew the attention of the FBI, who are now investigating solo operators. Lyons wept openly in court when the guilty plea was read.
The jury was out for only four hours before convicting him on ten counts. The judge sentenced him to 36 months and remanded him to federal prison immediately after conviction. Expert witnesses for the federal government included Stephen Koschal, noted authenticator, and Anthony Daniels who played C3PO in the Star Wars movies.
